New classes will be scheduling in September!

Lori's Stitching Studio offers sewing classes for children and adults. Sewing is becoming a lost art due to the fact that most schools no longer introduce this skill to students. As a former teacher, I enjoy sharing my love of sewing with others! Children, beginning at age 5, can learn hand sewing, embroidery, crewel, and cross-stitch. Machine classes and quilting begin at age 8. Adult machine classes and quilting classes introduce an array of skills. Machines are provided for students. We are located just outside of Elmer, NJ.

Hand sewing classes, beginning at age 5, teach little ones the basic skills of sewing while making projects such as a gingerbread man, a bean bag, a scrunchie, and a pillow. Embroidery class enables children to embellish their projects with their new skills. Stitchery class introduces new skills such as crewel, plastic canvas, needlepoint, and stamped cross stitch using small kits. Hand quilting class, for ages 8 and up, teaches the small stitches required for quilting, learning to work with a hoop, and simple applique.

Machine sewing classes for ages 8 and up include 20 hours of instruction, usually meet once a week for two hours per class. Machines are available or you may bring your own. There are currently 8 levels and we work on many different projects such as pj pants, a zippered pencil bag, a wrap-around skirt, several types of pillows, a robe, a tote bag, and many more. Several of my students have gone on to make their own gifts for birthday parties, their own prom dresses and one student even made all the valances for her family's cabins at the campground they manage! Several of my students have won ribbons at the 4-H fairs for their projects.

Adult classes start with a pillow and include applying a zipper, quilting and home decor projects. Many of my adult students haven't sewn since high school and enjoy learning so much more the second time around! Quilting classes are also available. Beautiful table runners and tote bags are some of the projects we've completed recently. Some of my adult students enjoy it so much they start redecorating their homes with their new skills! One beginner student made valances for two rooms of her home after the first 10 weeks of classes and she had never sewn before!

Mother-daughter classes are a very popular way to spend special time together while refreshing your skills at the same time!

Sewing is a proven stress reliever, which we can all use! Daytime and evening classes are available, as well as summer classes.

I'm very proud to announce that several of my students won ribbons, from first place to honorable mention, at our local 4-H Fair! See our photo gallery page under miscellanous for the pictures!

Come join the fun and learn a practical skill for a lifetime of enjoyment!

"I wanted to let you know that all our years of sewing lessons are paying off and what an inspiration you were! Kaitlyn has been designing all her own clothes and sewing them with no patterns (sometimes she makes her own pattern!) She will graduate (high school) in June and get an associates in Business and then wants to go on to fashion design school in Boston or the Art Institute in Phila. Thank you!"     ~Kim~

"Sewing is something fun that I can do after school and will be able to use the rest of my life. I already have received the benefits of sewing by being able to make pillows that were donated to a childrens' hospital, my prom dress, and gifts for my friends"  ~Miye~
